Class Descriptions:

YOUNG ACTORS (Ages 5-7): March 11 (9:00AM-12:00PM) or April 22 (1:00PM-4:00PM)
With a focus on movement, stage orientation, and fun acting games, this introductory class is perfect for the young aspiring actor with minimal stage experience. Class will end with a small performance for the parents to give the kids the experience of acting for an audience, without the stresses of auditioning or memorization.

BEGINNING ACTING (Ages 8-13): March 4 (1:00PM-4:00PM) or April 29 (9:00AM-12:00PM)
Students will learn acting techniques that will help them be comfortable on stage, inspiring a more truthful and powerful performance. In addition they will be introduced to classic acting games and improvisation. This class is a great way for kids to get their feet wet with auditioning and performing.

INTERMEDIATE ACTING (Ages 10-16): March 4 (9:00AM-12:00PM) or April 29 (1:00PM-4:00PM)
For those that have some experience in theatre and want to refine and expand their skills in a multitude of areas.

AUDITIONS (Ages 8-16): March 11 (1:00PM-4:00PM) or April 22 (9:00AM-12:00PM)
Nailing both the Audition and the Interview. Students will be given the opportunity to pick materials, and go through a mock audition with feedback.

POLISHING YOUR TALENT (Ages 10-16): March 18 (9:00AM-12:00PM) or May 6 (1:00PM-4:00PM)
Higher Level Acting - Open to any student who has taken previous classes, or has appeared onstage in a number of productions.

Character and accent studies learn how to nail a variety of different characters and accents using various types of theatre styles, open to all

About our Instructors:

Colin Thornton

Instructor Colin Thornton has been a CTM acting instructor for the past six years. He has been teaching and performing improv comedy for 17 years, and is currently the co-founder and instructor for Cincinnati's unscripted theatre, Coincidence Improv. Colin has directed dozens of performances for children at Town Hall Theatre and Center Stage Players. Recently, Colin has worked for Madcap Puppets, The Murder Mystery Company, and Dramakinetics.

Brent Alan Burington

Instructor Brent Alan Burington is an actor, director, writer, teacher, and designer based in central Ohio. He spent a decade as artistic director of Ohio Festival Theatre and is currently the Core Company Leader with Evolution Theatre Company. As a performer, he has appeared in commercials, films, and on stage all over the United States. He has directed productions as varied as Shakespeare, Neil Simon, and modern musicals and has written and published scripts. Brent has been an instructor with CTM for the past five years.

Assistant Heather Hopster has worked with CTM since our 2016 Summer Camps. She is a graduate of Cincinnati State Technical College, is currently studying American Sign Language, and comes to us with experience with Dramakinetics as an assistant instructor.

 

Class Notes:

  • Maximum 25 students per class / minimum 5 students
  • Ages are guidelines - can be flexible based on experience - NO child under age 5 (must be in kindergarten or above)
  • Class payments are accepted via PayPal unless arrangements are made with Mary. Your PayPal email receipt will serve as your confirmation of class. Registration forms/Emergency contacts will be confirmed on the first day of class. Approximately one week before class begins a reminder email will be sent to those who registered online.

CTM cannot offer refunds except in the case of class cancellation or if there is a waiting list with a student available to take the spot.
